Nested product documents (Jan 23)

The correct documentation for passive fire products is crucial for ensuring safety, meeting building codes and regulations, and demonstrating compliance. The Bolster system provides a solution for companies to gather the necessary technical data sheets, installation guidance, standard detail and other documents for each installed product.

These documents are now nested within the pin history for each product selected. You can find the information easily through the Single Pin View area of the system on both the app and desktop. This update ensures that building owners and contractors alike can have peace of mind knowing that they have specific, accurate information for each product used, readily available for future surveys or remedial works.

In-app camera replacement (Jan 23)

Bolster Systems has integrated the camera into the app to resolve the issue of sporadic crashing when users capture photos. This issue was a result of the Android feature 'Battery optimisation'. This Android feature effectively looks to preserve the device’s battery as much as possible. Previously, to take a photo through the Bolster Systems app users technically 'left' and accessed the device's native camera application. Android devices would then look to close the Bolster Systems app down to save on battery usage. The Bolster Systems in-app camera, launched earlier this month, was designed with four key priorities in mind:

  • Prevent app crashes.
  • Allow for flash use.
  • Allow for camera rotation.
  • Maintain image quality.

Future improvements, such as the 0.5 zoom option on Android devices, automatic flash, and usability of the volume buttons to capture images, are currently in progress with our development team. We shall advise on the release of these changes over the coming weeks.

Clear all previous answers (Jan 23)

Another update we have introduced is the ability to clear all questions from a previously used template when adding a new pin history. By default, all previously recorded answers from the latest pin history will prefill to save you time when documenting on-site works. This update allows you to start from scratch in scenarios where the previously recorded data is no longer accurate or useful. Users simply have to select the ‘clear answers’ button through the app or desktop to reset the template.

Date range usability improvements (Jan 23)

We have introduced predetermined date ranges for selection when generating reports. You may have previously noticed this functionality when generating timesheet CSV reports through Bolster Plus. Users can now specify the start and end date from our easy-to-use date picker or select from the predetermined date ranges to the left. You can use this feature to quickly gather weekly worked hours for payroll or collate monthly progress reports to issue to your clients.
